AMBALA/MOHALI: Lending his car to a ‘friend’ cost 20-year-old Mohali resident
Parvinder Singh dear as his car was found to have been used in the kidnapping of a minor, Vansh of Army Public School, Ambala Cantt, on Thursday.
Parvinder, a resident of Humanyunpur in Mohali, on Saturday surrendered before judicial magistrate (first class) Taranjeet Kaur, who remanded him to judicial custody till Tuesday.
According to the police, Parvinder was known to Dhappal, a resident of Handesra village in Mohali, an accused in the kidnapping case. Parvinder told the police that he had lent his car to Dhappal in good faith but he misused the car to kidnap the kid.
While Dhappal is still at large, the other kidnapper, identified as
Gurpreet Singh of Tasimblee village in Mohali district, was nabbed near Barwala in Panchkula district the same day Vansh was kidnapped.
Gurpreet is admitted to hospital as a bullet had hit him in his right leg during cross-firing. Eight-year-old Vansh was kidnapped on Thursday while returning home from school in Defence Colony of Ambala Cantt.
Police claimed that Vansh’s grandfather had received a ransom call for Rs 80 lakh in return for the minor boy. During the melee that ensued at Barwala, cops managed to rescue Vansh and also recovered an illegal weapon, one live bullet and two empty cartridges along with the vehicle used in the crime.
